Gustav

Right now, the last rain-band from Gustav is giving us some rain, right now, but all the wind and worst of the storm has long passed. Yesterday at about 9AM, campus got put into lockdown, and we all had to stay in our dorms. At about 1, power went out in our dorm room. Soon after power went out, everyone in my stack who stayed for the storm left their rooms and we all gathered in the kitchen and started to play cards and find ways to entertain ourselves. Then there were a couple games of "Horse" in the stairwell with a tennis ball. Power came back on around 7 for a short time, but then went out again after about 30 minutes or so. We took the table from the kitchen and put it in the stairwell and played cards some more. You could tell we were all getting pretty bored being stuck in one small stack for a full day without any power. (The lights in the stairwell were on, emergency lights, thats why we were able to be in there when it was dark outside.

At one point during the storm, me an my roommates were all just sitting on our beds when the wind suddenly started to pick up and then all of a sudden, a large tree branch comes and hits the side of the building and slides down the wall, coming very close to smashing in the window to our room. Here are some pictures of the tree, some from inside my room, and others from outside.

I think it would be a scary experience to hear the wind and the trees cracking and falling. The only good thing might be the break in the studies...
